re: For ER

According to the news report, dozens of Nuevo Leon farm animals have appeared dead, apparently the result of some predatory attack. The sheep reportedly had their hearts removed, although film also shows neck wounds. A veterinarian interviewed here speculates that "some clawed animal", from the footprints, may be responsible, although he can't say for sure. Other locals dispute this, pointing out that the attacks are inconsistent with the behavior of local predators, farm and feral dogs and pumas.

I would suggest an alternative theory: ritual killings by a religious cult to recover animal parts for ceremonial purposes (not uncommon in S. FL). This story is reminiscent of the chupacabra (literally: "goat sucker") flap a few years ago, which started out in Puerto Rico and then spread to several other Spanish-speaking countries before it died a natural death.
