It looks like there is an effort underway by the Bush administration to use the provisions of the Partiot Act to pack the Federal prosecutor pool with political appointees that are not subject to congressional approval. These presidential appointees need not be qualified, and can pursue any case they want without oversight.
Intersting how many of the right wing are absolutely sure that the bush administration would not use the patriot act to, say, grab power for the executive or abuse the public trust.
