And I resent it. The ol' "I was drunk" routine.
"Ex-Rep. Ney gets 30-months in jail. Violation of public trust leads to harsher than recommended sentence."
Migawd, why don't they have pre-sentence admissions of being Republican, lying, crooked, greedy, egotistical bastards (which we all know is true)?
But nope - "I was drunk." Wasn't me. I'm a nice guy. Wife, children. Got house payments (that friggin' Abramoff wouldn't cover, by the way). Booze. That's the problem. Yer Honor, I believe you should throw Jack Daniels in the slam - he did it. If it weren't for him I would have been an upstanding conservative - lying, crooked, greedy, egotistical and a bastard, but still a credit to my political affiliations.
Geez! Drinking doesn't excuse anything at all. Folks are not at fault for being alcoholic, are responsible for being drunk.
Arf (Well, now, aren't you a "fuking alcoholic" according to one Moderator, Bow? Mostly just alcoholic, I'm afraid.)
These guys give alcoholics a bad name.
