I haven't found the original, but sometimes someone will post a dramatic Photoshop artistic rendering on Unmannedspaceflight to simulate what someone might see on Mars in certain places.
They are always clearly labeled as such artistic efforts, and never an attempt to fake anybody out.
This could be something like that. I find it hard to believe an actual rover photo would have shown what you see.
