The IRS, as just one example, has for years extracted almost every bit of personal information on us, by law, and stored it away permanently.
Much has been said about the algorithms for the terrorist watch list being secret, and there being no appeal to being on it.
So are the algorithms that decide whether or not you will be selected for an audit by the IRS. They're secret, the IRS doesn't have to tell you why you were selected, and there's no appeal. Nobody even blinks about this.
Why?
You see, the IRS is the core of wealth redistribution in this country. Any violation of your life that will wring a few more bucks out of you is applauded by the Left.
I have to get a permit to fix a roof and fill out a form to cut down a tree. If I start a business that actually employs people, I have to go through enough government paperwork to sink a barge. There are restrictions on what I can pay, what I can charge, where I can build, what I can build, where I can sell it, who I can hire, and how wide the bathroom stalls are.
I drive a car that has mandated airbags, mandated mileage ratings, and countless other choices that were made for me by people who insisted they know more about what I need than I do. Ditto for almost any other consumer product.
And you can bet that almost every one of the anal exams I have to go through in my life just to do the simplest things originated, somewhere, with a Democrat.
Liberals wail about universal ID cards. But mention universal health insurance, with all your data on a nice convenient card, and wow! They perk right up. Some idiot Democrat is trying to outlaw spanking. Others trans-fats. You can get quite an education seeing what Democrats have tried to make law here in California that, thank God, never made it. No worries about Big Brother if he's on YOUR side.
But this control of my life and choices apparently isn't "authoritarian," despite the penalties if I don't go along. You see, all this is for my own good, and that of society. For this, almost any restriction of my freedom of choice is acceptable.
All the things I listed above are real, right here and now. Most of the crap you list is happening only in people's fevered imaginations. Usually, every sentence in these rants begins with "they COULD..." or "They might be able to..."
As just one example, please locate a single incident of On-Star being used for security purposes against the legitimate owner of a car.
Geez, it used to be the looney right that paid cash at gas stations so nobody would know where they were, or sanded off their fingerprints. When did the Left, which practically invented Big Brother decades ago, get so weird about this?
