Intellectual Dishonesty

So...from Tom, an individual who endeavors here to explain why Iraq is not Vietnam, we get a twelve year old diatribe about those who opposed the war in Vietnam nearly 40 years ago.

Fact is, Americans turned against the war in Vietnam because they grew weary of the daily casualty statistics borne of what was, in reality, a civil war. It wasn't just the "Left." By the time Nixon extricated us from that debacle, a majority of Americans supported pulling out.

And so, it is true today. With most Americans now agreeing that invading Iraq was a terrific mistake and with most Americans wanting to get us out from the middle of a sectarian civil war, to associate the anti-Iraq war "movement" with the "Left" is simply intellectually dishonest on Tom's part. But then, that's what being a neocon is all about - dishonesty.

It's time we declare victory and unilaterally remove ourselves from Iraq. And while were at it, I'd suggest setting up Mr. Bush's post presidential office in Baghdad's Green Zone so he can live with the consequences of his awful judgement.
