"Iraq has little law enforcement personnel or a functioning judicial system free of corruption"

Nah, really? Using the State Dept to hire private contractors to get the job done? Well, you know, Bush never saw this coming, but he's running this "war' like a business for his old buddies.
And this criminal Edwin Meese on this committee? You mean he's still practising law or allowed to give advice?
More like the fox guarding the hen house!

If anyone here is old enough to remember, Meese was Attorney General under Reagan and he obstructed justice in the Iran Contra case by not allowing proper FBI and customs investigation of the plane crash that was carrying US arms down to the contras in Nicauragua (against a Congressional mandate). The pilot of the plane testified later he was working under orders from (then) Vice President George Bush. Money for these illegal arms were got by missile sales to Iran.

That was the first time the American public got a glimpse of a secret government, a group made up of mostly retired CIA and military personnel who carried out foreign policy for the White House with no accountabilty to Congress or the public.
Nothing's changed in 20 years folks. Same old dogs running their businesses and cover-ups. And making excuses when it goe bad.
