Space, Katrina, and Iraq - Afghanistan

NASA estimates $104 billion for return to moon.

It's impossible to read of the proposed cuts in the space budget and the lack of rebuilding after Hurricane Katrina and not think of the money spent on Iraq and Afghanistan.

Space and Katrina would be constructive, positive, ennobling of humanity. Iraq and Afghanistan, they way they have been carried out, exemplify the worst in Man. And are far, far more expensive. I would guess we could get to both the Moon and Mars for less than the $2 trillion, and far fewer than 3,000+ American lives lost and hundreds of thousands of innocent foreign lives.

America deserves what it got, maybe, but the rest of the world didn't.

And humanity didn't. Humanity deserves the best.
