I just don't read SDAI or Scott. Or RL anymore, for that matter. Easier that way. As the saying goes, if I wanted to see any shit out of any of 'em I'd kick it out.
It's impossible to reason with anyone over the age of 14 who still looks at the world as black-and-white. Like you, I beat my brains out trying, and became a person even I didn't like in the process. I view them as handicapped children, though every once in a while something is so obvious or outrageous that I can't help but try again.
When Bush said that the US didn't torture terror suspects even as Cheney was lobbying to have their rights to torture unrestricted, I thought I had one of 'em.
But this True Believer responded that Bush must have meant right then. The US wasn't torturing as he spoke.
Even allowing for the extreme positions one can take when trying to make a point, that was a bit much. I realized there was NO way this person, reinforced by spending most of his time talking with others of the same ilk or listening to Limbaugh could ever see another point of view or show a shred of empathy for other humans.
Hell, one of the True Believers said that the Afghanis get used to having their friends and families killed, especially of the US threw a few "goodies" their way after it happened. As if they were a pack of feral dogs. And that one tries to paint himself as a "moderate".
Anyway, bedtime for this Bonzo. Pretty sure I won't wake up with any new scars, or tattoos. (Don't have any of those, though. Never did want anyone to be able to ID me instantly.)
Glad yer around! Don't burn out on the maroons.
