Misperception.

If the Earth orbited the Sun, we'd all be dizzy all the time. The blood would be rushing to our heads, then our feet, and all around and we couldn't tolerate it. Nauseated. It just makes sense.

The myth that the Earth does orbit the Sun was started during the Reformation by people whose real agenda was challenging the Roman Catholic Church. They forced The Church to divert resources to defend a basic reality, allowing Martin Luther and the Minions to sneak in under the radar.

The tragedy of it all is that it doesn't matter one Norwegian rat's ass unless yer sending a rocket somewhere, or something like that. And no one really knows how that's done, anyway. Or if. I suspect "Spirit" and "Opportunity" were Christmas presents to some kids in Utah, and they're still having a helluva good time. Sneak out at night and replace the batteries. Science project. What a hoot.

QED.
