You're watching a train. The bridge is washed out. The engine is in the rear.

The cabboose and first cars have already fallen into the chasm. The CinC of the train, in the engine way, way in the rear, is assuring everyone he can push the cars across the divide if he just applies a bit more power.

"Flank speed ahead", is the cry. "Full combat power! Gimme another engine or three!" (The theory is that if you fill the chasm with enough cars you can drive across. Kill everyone who hates you, and the world will be peaceful.)

In the meantime, the world watches. People die, more are maimed, more destruction.

There's a lesson in there somewhere.

Arf ("Flank speed", Bow? Yeah, it sounded dramatic. Actually, it was "get the f--k out of here", and you didn't have to say it twice. Sometimes not even once.)
