U.S. Military Says Copter Down in Iraq
I find this excerpt noteworthy:
More American troops were killed in combat in Iraq over the past four months _ at least 334 through Jan. 31 _ than in any comparable stretch since the war began, according to an Associated Press analysis of casualty records, as U.S. soldiers and Marines find themselves fighting more battles in the streets of Baghdad, as well as other cities.
So here we are nearly four years after Bush proclaimed the end of "major hostilities" under a banner announcing our "mission accomplished" and the rate of Americans dying in Iraq is higher than ever.
3,103 American soldiers have been killed in Iraq in pursuit of weapons of mass destruction that did not exist. What a mess. What an absolute mess.
And if anyone thinks sending 21,000 more troops will help us tame a country of 27 million people heading for full throttle civil war, they're out of the gourds.
The neocons have proven themselves idiots, very dangerous idiots.
