Iran will shortly launch it's first indigenous artificial-satellite,
Mesbah-1, possibly 300kg in weight, into earth orbit using
its infamous Shahab-4 rocket booster.
I assumed that tomorrow, February, 11th, an important
anniversary date in Iran, would be the launch date, but so far
no reports from NASA, NORAD, or media sources with
close links to the CIA, etc., indicate that the Iranians have as yet
rolled out a Shahib-4 a rocket booster for launch.
But the launch will probably happen within the next week.
[opinion:] Iran's fanatical leader would certainly use
an successful launch of an Iranian satellite as a patriotic rallying point
and a not-so-subtle threat to the nation's of the world within
range of the Shahib-4 missile.
Iran's leader does not care about space exploration
or space travel for its sake alone but having made clear his
desire to wipe out the nation of Israel with its Jewish population,
even if it means half the Iranian population ends up as radioactive dust.
He's made statements to that effect.
