More fun with Vista- Multiple monitors.

Mulitple monitors

First off, my wife's Cannon i850 wouldn't print. The default printer was permanently "out of paper". No matter how i jammed the stuff in, Vista indicated I was out. I noticed there was another printer, Cannon i850 "Copy1". I deleted the default and made Copy1 the default printer. Now works fine. Could delete Copy1 and reinstall but if it ain't broke...don't fix it.

My wife has three monitors. After installing Vista, two of them were "cloned". Very long story short, she has two dual head adapters. Display Settings read:

... on Standard VGA adapter
...9250 Radeon
...9250 Radeon Secondary

After looking at the cards, Vista had it wrong. Physically incorrect.

Two monitors were plugged into the standard adapter and one to the Radeon. I unplugged one from the standard and connected it to the Radeon and Viola...she has her desktop back. But she doesn't know about the "Aero" interface and won't be able to use it without some serious upgrades. What she doesn't know won't hurt her.

Nothing like having a spouse for giunea pig purposes.

I'm returning my copy* of Vista and will wait until I build another computer. It will have PCIe slots, 4GB of memory and all hardware will be Vista compliant. Of course by that time, things will have changed and the next version of Windows will be out....

(*thank god I know someone at MS)
