Real Gelflings?
Children with William's Syndrome have a typically elfin appearance and are usually very musically inclined.
Though any genetic disorders can be tough to deal with, these kids mostly seem to be happy and sociable... but a host of physical and developmental difficulties go along, too.
I've often wondered if this syndorme could be the source of legends about elves, leprechauns, etc.
