Following is the post I compiled for basically the same story. I have a link at the bottom where you can see the actual presentation that the story is based on. Plus you get my loopy view of the story, so I decided to post it anyway.

Yet, as rosy as the picture in this presentation was...
"But the projections, former military planners say, were intended to send the message to civilian policy makers that the invasion of Iraq would be a multiyear proposition, not an easy in-and-out war."
...which shows that there were those who thought the picture was even rosier. Amazing!
