While watching one of the Discovery Channel Group's multiple listings. 'A Cruise Ship's construction.'
Either Mega Structures or Ultimate Engineering. Forgot which, they're interchangable.
The high superstructure, shallow draft, lack of deadrise and bow angle bothered me for a long time. Couldn't put a finger on why.
Until I finally realized these were ocean going vessels. Hate to be aboard one when the gale force wind comes hard from port or starboard, and the weather gets really nasty.
In my moderately experienced opinion*, the risks of capsizing. Or worse, stove in bow\hull is a bit on the unnacceptable side.
One good rogue wave, or wind gust, and one of those floating casino/hotel/spa/recreation creations might just turn turtle one you. Sea weather can be capricious at best, deadly at worst.
(Posidion anyone?)
*Which is mostly sweet water, smaller craft, and far less than ER's when it relates to his.

I'd noticed the changing designs
