What I'm talking about is trying to create a military in the image of the US military to fight wars which the US military lost. And the Iraqi and Afghan military will never have the access to weapons, ammo, bombs, air power and so on the US has. If the US can't win, they can't.

And it's proven impossible for Westerners to train these armies, anyway.

In regards to "freedom", the Afghans perceive the Western occupation as what prevents them from being "free". The armies which are being "trained" are to protect a puppet regime, not allow the tribal areas their autonomy. They know "freedom", and it doesn't involve being occupied.
