Reposted over here because it's a more appropriate board, and to give it a bit more exposure. Thanks to Robert for pulling it back so I could do this. I'd forgotten most of it.
I have evidence that the emissions from a typical computer tend to create hostility in the average user after a short time.
In the past, prior to the internet, this was usually taken out on the computer itself, which was roundly cussed out and abused for the simplest thing, like the loss of a file you'd been working on for weeks.
Next in line were your co-workers, who couldn't understand why you were throwing coffee mugs at them. Fortunately, by the time you got out of your cubicle, the effects usually faded.
Now, with the internet and instant communication, you have instant access to hundreds or thousands of people while still under the bale influence of the Dark Side of Technology.
After a short time exposed to the rays, it becomes OBVIOUS how utterly stupid all these people are, and you can INSTANTLY tell them so without having try and locate a phone number, or take the time to mail a letter.
In its chronic form, symptoms include hair-trigger hostile responses, and a violent allergy to letting the other person have the last post.
Fortunately, I seem to be immune.
Dicks.
