Always reminded me of a Southern Baptist preacher and it appears my impression was right-on. I have no problem at all with him saying that many politicians that hang their hats on Christianity don't seem to follow the teachings of Jesus in their actions but the rest of his words are clearly using his own religion for political capital.

The reason there's not time set aside in public schools for children to pray is that kids that might not believe in prayer would feel ostracized. Any kid at any time (even while in school) has the right to pray on his own. By creating this time slot during public instruction with the understanding it's time to communicate with some higher power, it amounts to an endorsement of faith. Let's remember that our Constitution not only allows freedom of religion but also freedom from religion.

I'm sure Saudi Arabia has mandatory prayer times in their public schools. If an American feels strongly enough that it's necessary, then send your kids there.
