Armored vehicle with V-hull deflects blasts
It's all about redirecting energy. A curving V bottom redirects the majority of the blast force outside the structure. The old Humvee and tank was like a propeller driven plane asked to fly faster than sound - the shock waves simply tear it apart and leave a maximum profile for energy absorption.
Considering a vast number of deaths are attributed to roadside bombs and explosives, this is a very import science to begin developing in earnest - redirected energy technologies.
A curving hull that follows a 1:1.6 spiral ratio would maximize energy redirection. I think 60-70% redirection would be feasible. Likewise body armor has been typically designed to shield against sniper attacks and projectiles. Ideal armor would also be able to redirect energy from explosive blasts, minimizing the transfer of force to the occupant. Eventually the same principles could be used in architecture, creating walls that redirect blast energy and channel it to a desired location away from people. In the middle east such blast prepared designs should be created and employed in shopping districts and high population centers targeted by suicide bombers and car bombers. Schools, government buildings, etcetera should naturally be the first to employ such.
New armored vehicle doing very well.
