One would think the "Gestapo Act" would grant them enough legal powers.

WASHINGTON (AP) -- "The FBI improperly and, in some cases, illegally used the USA Patriot Act to secretly obtain personal information about people in the United States, a Justice Department audit concluded Friday.
"And for three years the FBI has underreported to Congress how often it forced businesses to turn over the customer data, the audit found."

There doesn't seem to be an end to the abuse of power being exercised by Bush & Co. And it's a puzzlement why those people who say they are interested in less government intrusion into the lives of citizens, less government control, and smaller government encourage this sort of thing. Maybe they don't mean it, they just like the sound of it.
