Give the "wounded predator" analogy a little more thought. Unlike Chomsky, who would explode like a deep-sea fish if taken out of academia, you probably have more life experience with real predators in the wild.
The ancient precaution against wounding one was not intended to drive home the lesson "leave it alone and it will just go away."
