The whole DST thing is a fraud as far as energy conservation is concerned. If you give people an extra hour of daylight after work they're most likely to spend it by jumping in their car and going out somewhere. It's no surprise that that the biggest pro-DST lobby is the retail sales industry. They've always known that DST meant billions in extra sales at the malls.
Maybe in Northern Europe during WWII DST might have made some sense, but not at our latitudes.
