What's actually going on

The Democrats came into Congress with one major goal: destroy the Bush administration. The plan was numberless "investigations" and associated hearings. So far, most of these have fizzled, as has pretty much everything else the Democrats promised if they won in 2006.

This particular flap is Chuck Schumer's baby, and a media hungry for something after the fizzle of "Plamegate" is looking for fresh blood.

As you yourself have seen, the leftist blogosphere is jumping into this with both feet. You should see how happy Kevin Drum is with this. He beat the dead horse of Plamegate until the maggots flew, and in some ways, hasn't let go of it yet.

Note the attempt to haul Rove into it. Next, we'll find a link to Halliburton.

The only real possibility of a problem is David Iglesias of New Mexico, but even there no real facts are in yet.

Note too how this pulls the headlines away from Iraq, where the Democrats are currently treading water badly (see aforementioned 2006 promises).

This will get a good run. Maybe the Democrats will get another administration scalp on their belt. They've had better luck with that than dealing with issues.

How's that 100 Hours thing going?
