Like all obvious triggers of seismic events, tides have been investigated for decades (maybe centuries) as the trigger eent but NO CORRELATION has been found.
The steady "breathing" of the crust as tidal flexures come and go does not seem to be an effective trigger.
AND the tone of the article you linked is clearly sensationalist. Much more rational approaches are needed than this.
Yes, there WILL be an earthquake, one day.
