ISS/Shuttle budgetary black hole

Money goes in, nothing comes out

"+ An estimated shortfall of $924 million in International Space Station (ISS) crew and cargo services funding - a shortfall that will have to be made up."

"+ Deferring a significant amount of research due to be done on the ISS and providing no grounds for optimism that the research will be adequately funded prior to NASA's planned withdrawal from the ISS program. + An underfunding of NASA's aeronautics program."

----------------and then cuts to where the real science/research gets done------------
"+ Almost no funding to initiate the series of new missions recommended by the National Academies' Earth Science Decadal Survey."
--------------------

The cursing I did the day the first node was launched to the ISS was well founded. After that it has been a continuous exercise in throwing good money after bad.

------------------
And then the irony, cuts to programs that have direct impact on progress in manned space advances like:
"Cuts to NASA's long-term exploration technology program. (Elimination of NASA's lunar robotic program - the precursor program for its human lunar initiative after just one mission has flown.)"

And we've already seen delays in the Lunar program. I expect more delays, budgetary increases, and reduction of ambitions for the plan until it is probably worthless too. It will be business as usual at NASA.

----------------
Sorry, I see all this good science the probes are returning and then I see the way NASA has completely bungled the manned space program and it irritates me. Especially when that bungling causes cuts to the more effective programs.
