"That which the user looks at is processed by the EyeTap. This allows the EyeTap to, under computer control, augment, diminish, or otherwise alter a user's visual perception of their environment, which creates a Computer Mediated Reality."
EyeTap
My idea was similar, though more mature in concept. My "NoseBud" was a nose piercing and therefore attached to the body. Through a pitot tube it tapped pressure changes in the nostril and generated enough power to run indefinitely. It projected an image onto the retina, either as a stand-alone graphic, or as an augment to the real landscape seen by the observer. It sent and received info from other nearby devices using bluetooth. I imagined games in which the user would participate bodily, where CGI would be created on the real landscape. Scary games like Doom would of course require medical screening before playing. You know... because you're not expecting that screaming, 7-foot tall, 4-armed, intestinal monster to be waiting just around the corner. Or to be sitting across from you on the subway!
LOL.
