Surrender v. retreat. BIG difference for English-speakers.
I've abandoned "battlefields" to the enemy, never to return. I did not surrender.
In normal discourse intellectually honest people attempt to use the language in a commonly accepted manner in order to facilitate communication.
Conservatives try to use language to spin, obfuscate and confuse, not caring what the reality is but how they can make it appear.
