Space/Science » in reply to Sunita should stay longer than expected aboard the ISS..

In case of more Shuttle delays are there Soyuz backups?

I realize all of 'em could evacuate the ISS, am wondering if there are other contingency plans which would allow resupply and return in the event the Shuttle has more problems without temporarily abandoning it.

I long for the glory days before Challenger when we looked at the Shuttle as a modern truck, reliable, friendly, big. I know it was a delusion, but a comforting delusion.

It's seeming anymore to be like a fussy Model A, which needed everything including holding your mouth just right to get it running.
