POTUS, CinC of the war in Iraq, following an unsuccessful four-year attempt to subdue a third-world country with no army, no navy or air force, looks for even more glory in the form of military conquests: (After all, in a war of attrition, a suicide bomber can't ever hurt you again, and if you want it more than they, they're dead.)
Is a U.S.-Iran War Inevitable?
"Add this to the rest of the bad news coming out of the Gulf, and things look pretty grim. The "surge," despite what some claim, has barely made a dent in the violence in Iraq. Our Arab allies are jumping ship, apparently as fast as they can. At the opening of the Arab summit on Wednesday, Saudi King Abdallah accused the U.S of illegally occupying Iraq. The day before, the leader of the United Arab Emirates sent his foreign minister to Tehran to tell the Iranians he would not allow the U.S. to use UAE soil to attack Iran. That leaves us with Kuwait and Iraqi Prime Minister Maliki to face Iran."
Don't forget Laura and Barney! And Lieberman and McCain.
So, how does he use his time? Propping up the old image, maybe? All politics, all the time.
POTUS, CinC, 6 weeks after the scandal breaks: Using the wounded as a photo-op.
Retired Maj. Gen. Paul Eaton, among retired military officers who took part in a conference call about Bush's visit, praised the president for seeing wounded soldiers. But, he added: "I'm convinced he would honor them more if he would refrain from using soldiers as props in political theater."
"I would be very happy to see him do the Walter Reed visit more like the commander and secondarily as an inspector general, rather than as a politician," he said."
Shameless, but we knew that.
Fearless leader of a people he ignores. Disdains, actually.
Arf
Keeping track of POTUS.
