Not quite what I was getting at.
I was commenting on how folks spoke in old recordings and films, the flow and timbre of their speech. You seem to be referring more to the content, what they spoke. The effect I'm referring to would be noticeable even if the actual texts they were repeating were word-for-word identical, say, a Scripture or Shakespeare quote.
