Excellent, Thanks
Good stuff about the Naval-ized F-86.
Same was true for the unsuccessful Navy version of the Air Force F-111. (F-111B)
The USAF version was already a pig for a fighter, (But latter became a superb high speed penetration strike bomber) but the carrier landing up-engineered F-111B couldn't get out of it's own way.
The Navy didn't want it, and during a Senate hearing Vice Admiral Tom Connolly responded to a Senate member's suggestion that with more powerful engines the F-111B might overcome it's failings.
VADM Connolly's now famous retort.
“Senator, there is not enough thrust in all of Christendom to make a fighter out of the F-111”
