There are people in the military who know a lot more about this issue than you or me who still think Iraq has a chance, including those currently running the war.

Increasingly, I'm noticing that most of the groups who insist that there is no chance at all are groups that have a hell of a lot to lose if they are wrong.

The Democratic Party, for example, has bet whatever the political equivalent is of their immortal soul that Iraq has no chance at all of coming out of this, and that immediate capitulation is our only hope. You can't even be a major Democratic leader any more and state otherwise.
