"Black-and-white" precludes understanding.
Understanding does not mean tolerate, accept or acquiese. It means know why they think what they think and do what they do.
And it's not because they are jealous of our McDonalds. May have something to do with kicking down their doors, bombing 'em, torturing 'em, killing 'em, looting their resources, that sort of thing.
That's a major problem with "black-and-white" thinkers. They will never understand the world. Always be suseptible to jingoism and propaganda instead of reason. Despots need those people very badly.
