Never was a big fan, myself. Like "Blondie," the jokes were a bit low end for my taste, but I thought he got hammered a lot more than a lot of other strips that were equally annoying but politically-correct.
I like the daily comics with breakfast. I like "For Better or for Worse," believe it or not. " "Foxtrot" was clever as hell, but is only on Sunday now. I like a lot of others, too. It's all fun, mostly. I miss Charles Schultz, but have to admit that forcing the newspapers to run early "Peanuts" work has shown how well his old stuff stands up.
Personally, I find the modern Doonesbury to be like fingernails on a blackboard, unlike the subtle wit that characterized early strips. Trudeau must carry his own personal cloud of "smug" wherever he goes.
