This guy is a flake. Even without the science, just on the surface, this story incorporates every bit of fantasy and self-serving lunacy possible, including name-dropping, rhetorical winks to the cognoscenti, a preknowledge of the current mythology, pointless references to irrelevant political conspiracies--the man is embarassing to watch. At first I thought he was a deliberate fraud, now I'm wondering if maybe he doesn't believe his own nonsense.
A 17 year old builds an advanced fusion rocket with superluminal performance and is taken to Area 51 where he is shown captured alien spacecraft that just happen to work on the same principle...with guest appearances by Stefan(sic) Hawking and Gen Curtis Lemay, no less. Pleeze, Pleeze, tell me you're goofing on us.
Of course, I can't prove he's making it up--until he gets to the science. What utter bilge! None of it makes any sense. It's just flat wrong. No, deuterium does NOT react with graphite to make a colossal explosion, deuterium is chemically identical to ordinary hydrogen. It reacts violently with oxygen to form heavy water, it doesn't do anything to graphite. I confess I'm no expert on relativistic fusion magnetic containment, but I remember enough of my high school chemistry to write this guy off.
