"Political strategist raises specter of attacks in U.S. if military pulls back abroad."
Anyway, it occurs to me that if Osama were running things he'd want the US to stay in Iraq and Afghanistan. The US military is getting ground down, over-extended, is over-budget, taking casualties, wearing out equipment faster than it can replace and repair.
There are US citizens available for shooting at, the world opinion keeps getting worse and worse, the US influence in both the Middle East and the ROW continues it's long, slow, steep dive, the military is no longer a threat, and Bush may have to use nukes instead of conventional military means for his dreams of glory and power. What more could an enemy of the US want? How could they go about getting it?
Nope. Bush & Co. have played into al-Qaeda's hands utterly and completely. The last thing they'd want is a US withdrawal to the 4 mega-bases built in the desert to protect Big and Western Oil and threaten Iran and whoever else they feel like threatening.
It is very obvious a pro-US government has no chance in Iraq or Afghanistan without the continual and escalating use of military power. Some "democracy", huh? And is that what anyone was promised. See quotes and projections from Bush and Cheney here. These guys have not been right yet, an amazing record of lying, duplicity and just plain being wrong. The American political leadership has no credibility with anyone with a memory and discernment.
Sad to say, but a vote to stay in Iraq, and Afghanistan, is a vote for Osama.
(Where is Osama, by the way? Bush told him he could run but not hide. Didn't put a time limit on it, though. Just another matter to gloss over, I guess.)
Arf
"Rove warns of threat of terrorism." A vote to stay in Iraq is a vote for Osama.
