The United States no longer expects to see a model new democracy, a self-supporting oil industry or a society in which the majority of people are free from serious security or economic challenges, U.S. officials say.

This from "FOX" - "In a provocative new article, a strategic thinker has asserted that the war in Iraq has been lost and American political leaders should start looking beyond that tragedy to the future.

"The truth is," said Andrew Bacevich, "next to nothing can be done to salvage Iraq. It is no longer within the capacity of the United States to determine the outcome of events there. Iraqis will decide their own fate."

Bush drives True Believers to a new low as they struggle to accept that even the phony, trumped up premises for war are neither true nor possible.

However, here's a link to the "progress reports" the US has been getting from it's political leadership. No hints of the reality, seems to be sorta like that guy they made fun of reporting the war from Iraq's side. Or Goebbels reporting WWII, doesn't it.
