The problem, as I see it, with the Iraqis getting along;
*Under Saddam, the Sunnis were first class citizens. Saddam was one of them and treated them well.
Now they have lost that and are wanting them back. However, they are outnumbered by their rivals, the Shiites, and it would be wise for them to make peace with the Shittes.
*The Shiites were the second class citizens under Saddam. They were the ones who lived in fear. If one said something anti-Saddam, they would vanish. They are also the ones Saddam’s sons kidnap rape and even murder their young daughters.
Now that they are free of the tyrant, they want their power, and some surely have a beef with the Sunnis.
Both the Sunnis and the Shiites are Arabs
* The Kurds were the third class citizens and Saddam had no problem slaughtering them by the tens of thousands. In fact, he used WMD to kill whole villages of them.
Now I think they just want to be left alone. They have seen enough horror under Saddam.
If my understanding is correct, the Kurds do not consider themselves Arabs when it comes to religion.
A good map of Iraq’s demographics.
I still throwing out the British drawn up Iraq and splitting it into 3 countries, based on each group, is a good idea. At the very least, let the Kurdish people have their own country.
