My ex and I were out having an early dinner on our picnic table outside by the lake when a rattlesnake came swimming in flat out like it was ON the water (not in it), then parked itself under our dock. My ex shot it through the boards and we laid it out by the tree after cutting it's head off. That headless snake continued to slither around in a circle and rattled it's tail until sundown. it was nasty.

We have coral snakes and cottonmouths (water mocassins) there. It's not safe to go water skiing in the spring. Make sure you don't get dropped off in the weeds, it could cost you your life. Heard many stories of boaters coming around to pick up the skier and they'd be covered by them after landing in a nest. That would give me nightmares too.
