Er, sorry, I meant "More on Vista."
I just haven't [yet] run into the same sorts of issues that others seem to be having (knock wood). Perhaps my computing efforts are more narrowly focussed than most other users.
Well, I installed the Lightwave 3D demo earlier today and have been having a blast for several hours now. It runs like a charm.
The key to a properly functioning installation was running the Registration Utility as an Administrator (the utility writes a file that enables the demo for 30 days...if no such file exists, it runs in a limited 'discovery' mode). I've also set up Lightwave itself to run as an admin, as I've done with most of my software. It's a pretty important option for any program that does much more than sit in memory and look pretty...if it writes to disk, accesses a network, etc (basically anything remotely interesting), it's best run as an admin. It'll pester you a lot less for permissions.
Still, I understand why people are staying away from Vista in droves. None of the other developers at work will touch it for home use, mostly because they each use soft- or hardware that has known issues.
Moron Vista...
