Very Interesting rock.
Looks like some kind of layered cap rock. Reminds me of rock I have seen in the Palo Duro Canyon.
It looks dark. Could it be layers of volcanic ash.
I was thinking the suspected volcanic activity in the Home Plate area is local, caused by rock melted from the impacted that created Gusev.
