Russia and ESA contracting at Kourou
For 4 Soyuz launches.
Every time I read about the space station being at the wrong orbit (because of the location of the Russian launch pads), I can't help but think: Kourou is even much better located than Cape Canaveral and for 3 reasons:
Much closer to the Equator (ideal for GEO and flights that need the lowest energy for space).
No hurricanes and a much more predictable weather pattern at Kourou.
Launching anywhere between East and heliosynchronous orbit (5 degrees (Kourou) to 98 degrees) while the US needs 2 launch pads (the Cape and Vandenberg)
