With three hydrogen liberated for every aluminum atom, producing energy this way seems like a great idea.
3H2O + Al -----> 3H2 + AlO3
Also consider that hydrogen may not be the only byproduct: aluminum combined with the oxygen and hydrogen from water might also produce a white powder called aluminum hydroxide via the following reaction.
2Al +3H2 +3O2------> 2Al(OH)3
Aluminum hydroxide is used in antacids and in mediated vaccines. Aluminum brain deterioration from these medical applications is being investigated.
Society doesn't need an unintended source of aluminum hydroxide.
What are the relative reaction rates for these reactions? Did you lose your eye discovering the water reaction?
