Charles Lindbergh crossed the Atlantic Ocean with the Spirit of Saint-Louis.
Did his stunt really open aviation to everybody? Even later, planes that crossed the Atlantic Ocean were hydroplanes and they didn't last as they were neither good planes nor good boats.
Perhaps Lindbergh's flight was more psychological as it drew attention to aviation and the fact that boats were going to have serious competitions from planes.
