Off Topic » in reply to got me wondering

It was a "don't ask, don't tell" era.

Cage was "out there" in so many other ways, unless he had kissed Gary Moore (the host on your clip) full on the mouth I doubt anyone would have paid the slightest attention to his mannerisms.

Thanks for the clip, btw. I remember that game show, and we had some fans of John Cage in my high school.

It sent me scurrying to find out if any P.D.Q. Bach video has been posted anywhere. (Peter Schickele, an accomplished composer and musicologist, writes affectionate and very funny satires of classical music under that name.) He wrote a couple for strings and hardart, an instrument of his invention that includes bicycle bells and horns, bottles to blow on to produce different tones, balloons (with ice pick), a vacuum cleaner attachment tube to spin around, and a starter's pistol. Alas, I have found none so far.
