That piece of legislatation that Bush signed about "cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment of prisoners"...was strictly for the people of the United States. We want the government to live by ideological standards, to assuage our misgivings about the war...ANY war. We have the innate ability to be in denial. We can not fathom this kind of cruelty, therefore it does not exist....once it has been outed...(with denial *still* at the helm) laws and lipservice ensue for damage control...accomplishing exactly what we want to hear and believe...[not to address the real problem.]...It is to shut us up, so we, the American people, can keep living within the parameters of our own versions of what reality should be....and so that the government can get on with their job.
It is time we stop shoulding all over ourselves.
