"Hi gb
My lady would be rather upset if I did that habitually. I talk to the ladies as much as the fellas, but what I meant was clear enough - you're just being cheeky."
I was actually wondering exactly what the question was, and therefore I gave a broad answer.
We have the physics so why is the economics of CATS so intractable? "
One could say that we already have CATS. Due to Arianespace and Sea Launch. Or if not for American govt interference with the US rocket market- neither of Arianespace and Sea Launch would have been necessary.
Or perhaps more precisely to what you are asking, we are on the road to CATS because of a 10 million dollar X-prize. Because this could lead to space tourism market.
And equally as significant, NASA is exploring the Moon to see if there is minable water.
Which could lead to market for rocket fuel in space.
There is little doubt that Arianespace and Sea Launch have increased access and are cheaper. And you wouldn't have Arianespace or Sea Launch without the GEO satellite market.
The simple answer is space markets are only way for the CATS that is needed to open space frontier.
Now, the US govt can spend hundreds of billions on space [it already has done this {Apollo, Shuttle, ISS] and did not do anything that would create markets in space.
The US govt *could* if it wanted to spend less than 1 billion dollars and start rocket fuel market in space.
