re: So the Republicans have gotten to the astronomers too I see

Earth is about .6 C above ice age temperatures and this is suppose to be too warm. Global temperature is warmer than just prior to beginning Little Ice age, and since the beginning of human civilization [about 10,000 years] we have had warmer period lasting hundreds of years which have been at or higher than the current global temperature.

Such warming periods were named such things as Medieval Climate Optimum [not the Life-Unfriendly Period], and strange as it may seem during these warmer periods the polar bears did not go extinct.
And perhaps contrary to the constant claim by the media, no species has actually gone extinct due to the slight warming that has occurred in the last hundred year.
In fact few vaguely sane scientist would ever make such a wild claim that a 1 C change in temperature in the past has ever caused any extinction. In other words, the minor extinction such as horses, sabre tooth tiger, mammoths of North America occurred during far greater change in global temperature. Now, the scientists will say this 5-10 C change in temperature was a significant factor and undeniable fact, but they also would look at other possible factors. In other words if global temperature in the past changed by say 5 C and around same time some species died, they wouldn't just close the book and say- "Oh look temperature changed a little bit. That is all that's needed to explain it."

Now, if you want argue that such species as Dodo birds went extinct because of climate change instead of being hunted to extinction, GO for it, dude!
